How do I search for a case or party?

Find out how to search for and bookmark a case on PacerPro.

PacerPro is an overlay to PACER - meaning you can search for any case in a federal district, bankruptcy, or appellate court. You can also run PACER Case Locator searches on PacerPro.

To run a search:

  • Click on the Search icon on left toolbar
  • If you know which court the case you're looking for is in, select District, Bankruptcy, Appellate or JPML

Tip: You can select multiple courts if, for example, you know the case is in either S.D.N.Y or E.D.N.Y., but you're not sure which.

  • If you don't know which court the case is in, or if you want to run a nationwide litigation profile, select PACER Case Locator
  • Choose to either search by attorney or litigant name or by case number (not available for PCL)
  • Enter a valid client/matter number (required if your firm requires a client/matter number for PACER searches)
