How do I complete ECF setup?

Learn how to complete this crucial step to ensure your case team receives real-time PDF2Go emails with case filings in federal court cases

PacerPro delivers real-time PDF2Go emails with filed documents attached to entire case teams because we get added as a secondary recipient in participating attorneys' CM/ECF accounts in each court where they're admitted.

This requires a one-time setup for each attorney in each court.

From that point on, PacerPro will be able to process documents in any case where that attorney files going forward.

To get set up, you'll just need the following:

  1. Your (or the attorney's) unique PacerPro email address --- it'll look something like jane-attorney-1234@ecf.pacerpro.com
  2. Your (or the attorney's CM/ECF username and password for each federal court where they're admitted
  • If you're a case team member at a firm that uses PacerPro, contact your firm's PacerPro administrator or support@pacerpro.com for the attorney's PacerPro email address
  • If you're an individual accountholder, you can find your PacerPro address at your profile here.

For district court, bankruptcy court, and JPML cases, find the CM/ECF website for the courts you'd like to set up for PacerPro

  • Use the attorney's credentials to log into the court website
  • Make sure to check off the redaction rules box before logging in
  • Look for the Utilities menu on the top of the screen
  • Select Maintain Your Account or Maintain Your Email
    • If you selected Maintain Your Account, you'll likely have to click another option to edit email information
  • Click Add New Email Address and paste in the attorney's PacerPro email
    • Some courts require you to re-enter email information
  • Click Submit (you may need to do this twice --- just keep hitting submit until you can't anymore)

Tip: You can find links to all of the CM/ECF sites via PACER

Appellate court email addresses are managed through the PACER Manage My Account site

Once you've logged in:

  • Go to the Maintenance tab
  • Select Display Email Noticing & Frequency
  • Find and click the checkbox for the appellate court you'd like to update
  • Click Load Email Noticing for that court
  • In the box at the bottom of the screen, add the PacerPro email address as a secondary recipient, and copy the contents of that box into the second box to confirm
  • Submit changes

Some notes:

  • Only check off multiple appellate courts if all of the secondary recipients for each court should be the same -- the changes you make to any checked off court will apply to all
  • Do not check off any district or bankruptcy courts you see listed. The changes will not apply. Follow the instructions above for these courts
